I have always loved the bakery but I had never experienced what it was really like to be hands on and actual do the breads and see what it takes to be a baker. I have had my ups and downs in this class. I struggle everyday in the understanding and the hecticity of what it takes to be a baker. The first class, made me open my mind about the broadicity of breads. I had no idea on how to make on simple bread and all the time and steps it took. It takes a lot of time and delicacy, patience, and responsibility. There has to be respect towards bread. From the steps on how its being milled all through the resting, and the baking and then selling the product. I have learned that in the industry everything has to be very fast moving but delicate and very careful while making sure that all of the ingredients are being placed into the mix. If there is one simple mistake made, then the whole thing is ruined and has to be thrown out. Being in this class will open your eyes into a whole new perspective of the bread world.
Making one simple mistake ruins everything. I had already premixed everything for the polish from the day before. I thought everything was already set. Apparently I was wrong. We found out there was no yeast put into the mixture. If it wouldn't have been because chef said, there is something wrong with this mixture, as soon as he saw it. He was right. He taught us a method to see in order if all of the ingredients are put into the mixture. He grabbed hot water into a bowl and grab a little of the mixture and drop it into the water and if it floats, then, it means that there is yeast. On the other hand, if it sinks, then there is no yeast put into the mixture. I look forward to the day that i am working in the industry and I learn all of these different tricks and methods and to make everything right. You always have to please the clients and if there is one simple mistake it WILL be noticed maybe sometimes not by you but by the buyers it will make a big difference. In the industry having a high quality product does make a huge difference.
Being a clean, organized, responsible, and hygienic person is everything in the industry and in class. That is the main thing there is to learn. Everything has to be clean and sanitized. It may not seem important at first , but then by the time you find out it is everything. There is one unsanitized utensil or a bad ingredient an it messed everything up. The product will rensin and go bad. Once a product goes bad and a costumer eats that, it can be a very serious thing. If there is a case that there is a sick costumer do to your bad product, they can sue you and everything will go bad. Your business can close, etc. Always make sure to have everything sanitized, clean, not expired, etc.
